Vermont- Mt. Snow

I went to Mt. Snow, Vermont in the end of June this summer. It was a family camp.  There is a lot of stuff to do there like mountain biking and regular biking and downhill biking which is you ride the chairlift up and then you bike down on the bumpy paths butt (but) the downhill bike is a different type of bike than you have at your house, the downhill bike has bigger wheels.

There are also a lot of hikes you can do but there very tiring and one of the hikes you can do is a hike from the bottom to the top. We went with my grandma/grandpa and 2 cousins and aunt and uncle there and my grandma went from the bottom to the top! There was also a lake there where we went swimming and boating. One day we went out on a pontoon boat and the driver attached a board to the back. We swam out to it and he drove us around while we held on. It was very fun.

I also got to do stand up paddle boarding a few times.  We were also there for July 4th. We went to the town of Brattleboro to explore. Sometimes at night we went to a fire pit and roasted marshmallows and made smores.

Nature Walks

Do you like to explore nature? Well I do! One of my favorite things to do outside is to go on a nature walk. Here are some great things about them:
You can collect stuff to do science projects with.
They are free.
You can do a short nature walk or a long nature walk.
You can look at interesting things.

The Big Apple Circus

You might have read my last post about the national harbor and there is something special there called the Big Apple Circus. It is from February 14th (Valentines day) to March 24th. It is a great circus from juggling  to the trapeze and from the trampoline  to musical entertainers. There are very talented acrobats in the Big Apple Circus and you have to be very talented in circus skills to join them.   Here is a picture of the circus:

There is food at the circus. Some snacks, drinks, and there are also toys to buy.
To go to the Big Apple Circus, you need to get tickets. There are tickets for $20, $35, and more per ticket.   There is more one show per day on the weekends.

On a scale of one to ten, I give it an 8. The adults in my group liked it too just like me!

National Harbor

You know probably some stuff about Washington DC and maybe you know a little about national harbor but if you don't this will be new to you. So national harbor is a place in Washington DC that has a big hotel called the National Harbor Gaylord. The hotel is a big resort with an outside patio that you can walk on that goes along the Potomac River. If you see a plane that looks like Air Force One, do not walk along the river towards it because there is a gate blocking you. It is a restricted area. You have to go around another way. Next time I go, I will check it out with my family and tell you about it.
If you walk in the opposite direction of where the plane is, you will reach the area where the ferris wheel and all of the boats are.

At night, the ferris wheel lights up. The ferris wheel is called the Capital Wheel and it costs $15 for adults and $11.25 for kids.

If you keep walking you will see a big grassy area with stairs down to a big sandy area with a couple big statues of a man lying in the sand. The biggest is his knee. There is also a statue of his head and one of each of his hands. The last one is his foot. The foot looks easy, but it is actually really hard to climb to the top.

If you walk back up the steps down the main road, you will see statues of important people. There is a statue of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a wheelchair, Abraham Lincoln, and Henry Ford, and many more.

And if you see the statue of the famous kiss for when the man is heading off to war, then you are in front of a restaurant called Granite City Food & Brewery. This is where we ate dinner. The kids menu was good and some of the food included on the kids menu was macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, hamburger, chicken, salmon, and a lot of other stuff. The adults I was with seemed happy with their meals.

Snow Day Fun!

There is a lot of stuff you can do on a snow day like today! We have no school today! I love snow days!

1. Go play in the snow. There are a lot of things to do outside when it snows. I love to play in the snow. You can build a snowman. The last time we had snow I made a snow igloo.
Here is a picture of me building it. I used beach toys like shovels and pails to make snow blocks.

 I also love to play at the playground in the snow. I love to play with my brother and sister in the snow at the playground. We like to pretend to be bears and we have homes in the snow. It is also fun to slide on a snowy slide- it is like a snow ride. If you want to make a giant snow storm, it is also fun to shake a branch of a snow covered tree. If you shake it, all of the snow will fall on you like a big snow storm.

2. Drink hot chocolate. I love hot chocolate and also marshmallows.

3. Make a snow sundae. To make a snow sundae you have to get clean snow from outside. In the bowl you pour milk and a little vanilla. Then you mix it all up and then you pick what kind of toppings you want like sprinkles. Then enjoy!

4. Build a fort.

5. Bake some hot food. Today we are making blueberry pancakes. We are also going to make pumpkin bread and later in the day we are making meatballs and cornbread. My favorite thing to bake on a snow day is cookies.

6. Take a bubble bath. We love to take bubble baths.

7. Watch a movie.

The National Zoo

There is a lot of fun stuff to do in Washington, and one of my favorite things is to go to the zoo. I like the zoo for a lot of reasons. One is that I like seeing the animals and the animals by habitat. Some of the animals you can see at the National Zoo are panda bears, zebras, tigers, lions, and a lot more. 

There are indoor things and outdoor things to see at the zoo. Some of the indoor things are the ape house, the amazon, the small mammal house, the reptile house, and the think tank. In the think tank,  they train some orangutans to do a game and to teach them stuff on a computer.

The zoo also has restaurants to eat in, mostly for lunch. They don't really have breakfast foods, but that's fine because you don't really want to get up really early  to go to the zoo on a weekend when you can sleep in. There is also a Starbucks right across the street.
I also recommend stopping at Cake Pops by Yael for a cake pop. It is delicious and nut free.  Here is a picture of my mom and me enjoying a cake pop!

There is also a frozen yogurt place there.

There are sometimes special programs like Zoo Lights. This is fun and takes place at the zoo at night from around Thanksgiving until New Years.

Admission is free and parking is 22 dollars a day. I love the zoo. I think you should go sometime!

LEGO 2 Movie

Today I went to see the new movie- LEGO 2.

It was a fun movie. It takes place after LEGO Movie, but you don't need to see the first movie to understand this movie. It was really funny, but it was a little long. When we saw it, there were a lot of previews, so it was too long, especially for my little brother.

I wonder if they will make a LEGO Movie 3, but probably not for a long time since this one just came out.

I won't give any spoilers, but I give this 3 stars (out of 5.)
